Violin and guitar: two centuries-old instruments whose combination has been heard countless times in various genres – from Baroque to pop, from early music to Irish folk. The duo Hidden Surface, however, wants to break free from these standardized forms. The instruments are amplified, a fifth string is added to the electric violin, and in addition to conventional playing, both instrumentalists use a range of effects pedals that can take the acoustic sound to unconventional heights. With this approach in mind, the two musicians aim to break down seemingly familiar patterns and uncover the hidden facets of music! Musically influenced by pop melodies, avant-garde forms, and jazzy harmonies, they create a unique soundscape that purposefully unites acoustic playing with the possibilities of electronics.
